Mr George’s results for this year!

18th Feb – Colraine EC. Unplaced dressage – Prelim 14

I had only come back to Cornwall for a few days and decided to enter a local dressage competition. Poor George had only really been hacked out at the weekends so he was quite unfit, luckily, the test is only a few minutes long! I have never really been a dressage diva but I actually really enjoyed myself and I think George did too as he only had to spend 15mins away from his haynet! We ended gaining mostly 6’s but needed more suppleness. We didn’t get a placing but we qualified for the NPS dressage finals. I am definitely going to attempt more dressage this year!

15th April – Gwennap Riding Club. 1st dressage – Prelim 1

We had originally entered this dressage open day in the September last year but due to the weather, it was rained off and postponed to today. I had to learn a new test the day before as we had accidentally been put down for a different one. George went really well and we won! We also received a lovely trophy too which was a nice surprise!

24th April – Gwennap Riding Club. 4th dressage – Prelim1

I am now really enjoying doing dressage, however George was not impressed that it was dinner time and I was hacking up to a competition. He was not very well behaved and I think it was because Dragon was there. However, we still managed a 4th – we will definitely improve on that next time!

12th May – Troon Show. 2nd In-hand M&M large breeds, 3rd Ridden M&M large breeds.

Clare rode George for me at Troon show as I had gone back to university. He was enjoying his first show of the year and he was originally pulled 6th in the riddens and then moved up to 3rd. 1st was a Connemara that had qualified RIHS and 2nd was Amy Jones’ lovely Dales, Lowhouses Basil, but they reversed places in the in hand class with George coming 2nd and Basil 3rd. I am told it was a lovely day but a bit windy!

27th May – Cornwall’s Open Show – 2nd In-hand M&M large breeds, 2nd & res champ M&M Open WHP, 5th Ridden M&M large breeds.

Bry rode George at this show for me as I was baby sitting my niece in London. They had a really good day and lovely sunshine! George started off with a 2nd in hand to the eventual champion. Later in the day, the workers and ridden class clashed so Bry opted to do the workers first – George had one refusal at a white jump but flew round after that, which I was very proud of. Bry does not usually jump George so she did a good job jumping round – it was quite a good course too I am told! He then went reserve champion to Charlotte Harlow’s very consistent and successful New Forest, Willoway Lord of the Rings. He also got a lovely pink sash! Bry and George then rushed to the ridden class, they joined the end of the line and did a good show to get 5th in the biggest class of the day! Well done Bry and George – a long day in the sunshine!

12th June – Gwennap Riding Club. 1st dressage – Prelim 12

Another evening dressage and this time George went fabulously for me. We hacked up again and he was very much admired and we had some great comments. George got a really brilliant 68% for his test and I am really proud of the progress we have made in the dressage arena!
